Rad Power Bike’s latest offering, the RadKick Lightweight eBike, is the company’s first bike to come with a belt-drive option. It’s also the lightest bicycle that Rad Power has built to date.
“Weighing just 55 lbs, the RadKick is nimble enough to carry up stairs, lift from the back of your car, or slip onto the rack of a city bus,” the The Rad Kick product listing at RadPowerBikes.com proclaims.
RadKick is all about safety and simplicity.
The Safe Shield Battery features thermal-resistant technology – each cell is encapsulated by a unique heat-absorbing resin designed to prevent an accident from escalating. Each of Rad Power Bikes 2024 models is rated to IPX6 weather-protection, which means they can withstand high-pressure, heavy water splashes. And for added safety, they’re equipped with hydraulic disc brakes to ensure all-weather stopping ability.
As a Class 2 eBike, the top speed is 20 mph. The 500-watt motor and 10Ah 360 Wh Safe Shield battery provide an estimated 15-35 miles per charge.
In addition to the single-speed belt-drive option, a 7-speed version of the RadKick Lightweight eBike is available as well. It uses a Shimano drivetrain with a rear 7-speed, 11-34T freewheel.
Like other Rad Power Bikes, the Radkick is equipped with a rear rack with 55-pound cargo capacity. Front and rear lights both feature auto-on technology. The front light is a ~50 lumens LED headlight with built-in reflector and the rear is an integrated taillight with brake light.
The RadKick is available in a step-thru frame that can accommodate riders between 5’2″-6’1″ tall. It has a weight limit of 300 pounds. The belt drive model comes in a midnight blue color, while the 7-soeed is available in a lighter arctic blue.
Rad Power Bikes is the nation’s largest eBike maker. The company was founded by Mike Radenbaugh, who as a teenager was looking for a better way to pedal his bike the 15 miles to and from school. He tinkered with spare parts and started converting standard bikes to ebikes before launching a crowdsourcing campaign to build the first RadRover. It was Radenbaugh’s mother who suggested naming the company Rad Power Bikes.
The belt-drive version of the RadKick is $1,399 and the 7-speed model is $1,199. Both are available for pre-order at radpowerbikes.com.
