World Car Free Day

World Car Free Day is organized in various cities throughout the world in different ways, but with the common goal of reducing the number of cars on the streets. The benefit is a day with less traffic congestion, a greener environment and reduced gasoline demand. Today, World Car Free Day includes celebrations in 46 countries and over 2,000 cities.
In 2023, Walk Bike Tampa in partnership with the City of Tampa, Tampa Downtown Partnership, Westshore Alliance, Pedal Power Promoters and Sidewalk Stompers will be hosting the inaugural World Car Free Day. Walk Bike Tampa is committed to car free spaces that grow inclusivity and diversity, making our communities healthier and more vibrant. Walk Bike Tampa’s mission is to nurture and grow car-free spaces and culture in collaboration with local communities.
The event will occur in three neighborhood locations for this inaugural year – Downtown Tampa, Westshore and Ybor City. Activities are being programmed at all three locations including a market, pickleball, kids play area, food and entertainment.
