Sanford’s Ride to Freedom

May 18 @ 7:00 am - 5:00 pm

Sanford's Ride to Freedom
On January 1, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, freeing enslaved people in the Southern states. It was not until May 20, 1865 that the state of Florida was finally freed and the Emancipation Proclamation was actually in effect.
