Third Annual Great Date Ride
May 4 @ 7:15 am - 5:00 pm
This year we are combining two fine parties into one, as we join on the morning of Saturday, May 4th. After an early breakfast planned by the rider (your main squeeze), you will drive together to the parking lot of the Carlton Preserve. We will meet up at 7:15, to beat the heat and the Dark Side. At 7:30 AM after a quick kiss on the cheek, the rider will be dropped off and sent on their way.
The riders will then ride 69 miles of mixed surfaces including asphalt, wooden bridges, gravel, sand, single track, and grass. This route is part of our Park Hopper Route, we will visit about 14 Parks. The destination is the Celtic Ray Public House in Punta Gorda at roughly 2:00 PM.
The drivers will meet the riders at the Ray after their morning off. I am sure we will have many reasons to celebrate and SCORR will buy the first round. It is recommended that a hotel room be reserved in Punta Gorda for Saturday night. The Wyvern Hotel, Sheraton, Springhill Suites, even the new Sunseeker resort can be booked.
All these fine establishments are within a short distance of downtown Punta Gorda, home of many fine restaurants and bars. A walking evening of good food, and drink with great friends is planned.
This is a free event open to all riders, no support, no sag! There is a convenience store at about the halfway point. In lieu of a Millennium Falcon, Gravel bikes are highly recommended on this route with about 50% road riding and a few gates will be hopped.
