Former Pros Bob Roll and Christian Vande Velde coming to St. Pete
Former professional cyclists and current NBC Sports commentators Bob Roll and Christian Vande Velde are coming to St. Petersburg on Saturday, Feb. 21 for a community ride, meet and greet and discussion.
The event, organized by the St. Petersburg Bicycle Club is free, although the discussion is only open to club members.
The day kicks off at 8:30 a.m. with a “Ride with the Legends” departing from St. Pete Athletic Club and rolling along the Pinellas Trail.
After the ride, a Meet & Greet will take place from 1-3 p.m. at The Bikery, where Roll and Vande Velde will be available for photos and conversation with fans.
From 6 to 9 p.m., SPBC club members are invited to hear cycling stories from the pair at the Polish American Society. A $15 trial membership is available if you’d like to attend, but are not yet a member. Click here for more information.
Roll, who rode for the 7-Eleven team in three Tours de France, is known for his cycling commentary on NBC Sports.
Vande Velde rode professionally between 1998 and 2013 for the U.S. Postal Service, Liberty Seguros, Team CSC and Garmin–Sharp teams, has been a cycling analyst for NBC Sports since 2014.
