A GoFundMe has been set up for Gabrielle Suver, a professional triathlete who was hit from behind during a training ride in Clermont, FL on Nov. 15.

As of Nov. 19, the fundraiser has reached more than $30,000 of the $50,000 goal from more than 300 donations. Visit https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-gabrielle-suver-recovery-journey for more information.

According to news reports, Suver was riding on State Road 541 in Clermont when a driver ran her off the road and fled the scene. While there were no witnesses, passersby called 911 and Suver was airlifted to the hospital with major injuries including three spinal fractures, three broken ribs, an elbow fracture and a concussion. Suver had back surgery and a rod placed in her lower leg.

“Gabby is currently facing extensive medical treatment, and the financial burden of emergency care, ongoing procedures, and rehabilitation is substantial,” Suver’s coach Rebecca Marsh, wrote in the GoFundMe. “As she begins the long process of healing, we want to ensure that financial stress is not another obstacle she must face.”

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, and anyone with information is asked to call 800-423-TIPS.
