Heybike Hero eBike
The Heybike Hero is a full-suspension carbon fiber all-terrain eBike available in two motor configurations that starts at less then $2,000.
The Hero is offered with either a 750W mid-drive motor or a 1000W rear hub motor. The mid-drive version delivers 160 Nm of torque and peaks at 1,400 watts, while the rear hub version delivers 100 Nm of torque and peaks at 1,800 watts. Both versions share the same 864Wh removable lithium-ion battery with a maximum range of up to 60 miles per charge, charging fully in 4–5 hours with the included 54.6V 4A charger.
Top speed on both versions is 35 mph. The mid-drive version pairs with a Shimano 8-speed drivetrain; the rear hub version uses a Shimano 9-speed. Both versions use a torque sensor for pedal assist and feature a built-in LCD display.
The frame is constructed from T800 carbon fiber — the same grade used in high-performance cycling applications — and includes an integrated handlebar, shock-absorbing saddle, and mounting points for fenders and a rear rack. The Hero’s full suspension system combines a hydraulic front fork with a horst-link rear suspension for controlled handling on rough trails and unpaved roads. Stopping power comes from hydraulic disc brakes front and rear. The bike rolls on 26 x 4.0-inch puncture-resistant fat tires on aluminum alloy spoke wheels.
The Hero is available in both step-thru and step-over frame styles, and in Tangerine, Lime Yellow, and two Limited Edition color schemes. An integrated headlight and alloy kickstand are included standard. Fender and rear rack mounts are built into the frame, though fenders and a rack are sold separately.
The LCD display is integrated into the one-piece handlebar and stem.
The Hero weighs approximately 75 pounds and supports a maximum payload of 400 pounds including the rider. Recommended rider height is 5’3″ to 6’6″. The carbon fiber frame carries a 10-year warranty; the rest of the bike comes with a 2-year warranty and a 14-day free trial.
The 750W mid-drive version retails for $2,099 and the 1000W rear hub version retails for $1,899 at heybike.com.
