ENVO D50 Electric Bike
The ENVO D50 is a Canadian-engineered eBike with three different variants designed for whatever riding style you throw at it. Available in a step-thru, step-over or mountain bike model, the D50 has all the bases covered.
The D50 is powered by a 750W peak (500W rated) geared rear hub motor developed by ENVO Drive Systems in Burnaby, BC, delivering 80 N·m of torque and a top speed of up to 28 mph.
The motor uses a torque sensor for natural, proportional power delivery that adjusts in real time to the rider’s pedaling effort across 5 pedal assist levels plus a thumb throttle. ENVO claims the motor is 50% lighter than comparable hub motors while delivering 50% more torque and 25% greater battery efficiency, and is engineered for over 20,000 km of maintenance-free operation. The bike is available in Class 2 (for Canadian roads) or Class 3 (for the US market) configurations.
The 48V 15Ah (720Wh) removable battery uses LG/Panasonic Li-ion cells selected for cold-weather performance, with a range of up to 93 miles (150 km) on pedal assist level 1. A second battery (48V 17.5Ah) can be added as a range extender, boosting combined capacity to 32.5Ah and maximum range to approximately 124 miles (200 km) — suitable for touring, delivery, and multi-day commutes.
The bike features CANBUS communication between the battery and controller, enabling real-time battery cell health data and diagnostics on the display and in the ENVO app. A Smart Charging Communication system allows two-way communication between the battery and charger for safer, more efficient charging. The battery and charger are UL 2849 certified.
The D50 is built on a hydroformed 6061 aluminum alloy TIG-welded frame available in two sizes to fit riders from 5’0″ to 6’6″, and weighs approximately 62 pounds.
A 29-inch suspension fork with 80mm of travel and lockout handles front suspension. Stopping is managed by Tektro HD-E350 hydraulic disc brakes. The drivetrain is Shimano Altus 9-speed with a 48T chainring and 11-36 cassette, which ENVO says enables climbing up to a 25% grade in first gear.
The standard tire is 27.5 x 1.95 inches, with alternative setups available for 27.5 x 3.0-inch fat tires or 29 x 2.25-inch mountain bike tires — allowing the D50 to serve as a commuter, cargo bike, or hardtail eMTB depending on configuration.
The integrated rear rack carries up to 55 lbs; an optional cargo package upgrades this to a heavy-duty rear rack rated for 176 lbs, with a cushioned passenger seat, foot pegs, and a front carrier included. Maximum payload is 400 pounds.
The D50 is equipped with a 100-lux / 300-lumen LED headlight powered by the main battery, a taillight that doubles as a brake light, and a Smart Display with Bluetooth connectivity for the ENVO app, which provides navigation, diagnostics, and performance tracking.
The ENVO D50 is available in multiple colors and retails starting at $2,449 at envodrive.com. It ships within 3–7 business days.
