Aventon Level 4 ADV eBike
The Aventon Level 4 ADV is the mid-drive flagship of the Level 4 lineup, pairing Aventon’s new Ultro S motor with electronic shifting, AutoShift, and an 800Wh battery for a commuter eBike that largely manages itself.
The Level 4 ADV is built around Aventon’s proprietary Ultro S mid-drive motor, rated at 250W sustained and 750W peak with 100 N·m of torque. Mid-drive placement at the bottom bracket means power flows through the drivetrain rather than directly to the wheel, producing a more natural pedaling feel and better efficiency on varied terrain than a hub motor.
The Shimano CUES 10-speed electronic drivetrain is operated via Aventon’s E-Shifter on the right handlebar or left entirely to the bike’s AutoShift system, which monitors cadence in real time and shifts automatically to keep the rider in an optimal gear. An Auto pedal assist mode works alongside AutoShift to simultaneously manage motor output, creating a ride experience that requires minimal rider input on varied terrain. Both systems are tunable via the display or the Aventon app.
The 36V 22Ah (800Wh) removable Samsung 21700 battery delivers a maximum range of up to 110 miles — a figure that independent testing has consistently backed up — and is keylessly released through the display menu or app. A 42V 4A fast charger is included. The battery is cross-compatible with other current Aventon ACU-equipped models.
The Level 4 ADV ships fully equipped: integrated LED front and rear lights with turn signals, rear cargo rack, front and rear fenders, and a 50mm suspension seatpost are all included. The full ACU smart security suite provides 4G GPS tracking, geofencing, motion detection alarm, remote rear wheel lockout, Lost Mode, and PIN start.
A 100mm coil spring suspension fork with adjustable preload and lockout on a 15x100mm thru-axle handles front suspension. Stopping is handled by Tektro HD-M3120 2-piston hydraulic disc brakes with 180mm rotors and motor cutoff sensors. The bike rolls on Kenda Kwick Seven-5 Sport 27.5 x 2.2-inch tires on 36-spoke double-wall aluminum wheels.
The 680mm handlebar mounts to a 60mm stem with 90-degree adjustability. The gravity-cast front triangle keeps welds invisible for a clean, premium finish. The Level 4 ADV weighs approximately 64 pounds — about 7 pounds lighter than the hub-motor REC — and supports a maximum payload of 300 pounds. It is UL 2849 and UL 2271 certified.
One noted omission: like the REC, the ADV’s Tektro brake system does not include motor cutoff sensors, which means the integrated tail light does not function as a brake light.
The Aventon Level 4 ADV is available in high-step and step-through frame styles across three sizes, fitting riders from 5’3″ to 6’3″+, in Purple Haze, Haze, and Midnight Black colorways. It retails for $2,799 at aventon.com. The step-through version is available at the same price. Both come with free shipping, a 14-day return window, and a 2-year warranty. Aventon has 1,800+ authorized dealer locations for in-person service and test rides.
