Aventon Aventure 3 eBike
The Aventon Aventure 3 is the third generation of Aventon’s best-selling all-terrain fat tire eBike, adding smart security, a gravity-cast frame, and a suspension seatpost to an already well-regarded platform.
The Aventure 3 runs Aventon’s 750W rear hub motor peaking at 1,188W with 80 N·m of torque, paired with a double-sided bottom bracket torque sensor for smooth, proportional power delivery.
A thumb throttle on the left handlebar provides on-demand assist, and four pedal assist modes — Eco, Tour, Sport, and Turbo — plus Boost mode (120% of max torque for up to 30 seconds) cover everything from battery-conservation cruising to steep climbs.
Top speed ships as Class 2 at 20 mph and is unlockable to Class 3 at 28 mph via the Aventon app; the throttle can be unplugged for Class 1-only areas. The 36V 20Ah (733Wh) LG 21700-cell battery is integrated into the downtube and released keylessly through the display menu, with a secondary handle release. It is cross-compatible with the Abound SR, Abound LR, Level 3, and Pace 4. Aventon claims a 65-mile maximum range; real-world testing in mixed conditions has consistently returned 50–62 miles, with 34 miles at maximum assist.
The ACU (Aventon Control Unit) is the headline upgrade from the Aventure 2. Built directly into the frame, it provides 4G GPS tracking with cloud upload whether the bike is powered on or off, geofencing with push notifications, a motion detection alarm, remote rear wheel lockout that prevents the bike from being rolled or ridden away, Lost Mode to deactivate electrical systems remotely, PIN start, and over-the-air firmware updates.
The ACU is managed entirely through the Aventon app and has already delivered new features post-launch including cruise control and an updated Boost mode. The gravity-cast aluminum front triangle — shared with the Level 4 lineup — eliminates visible weld lines for a clean, premium finish while improving frame stiffness over previous Aventure generations.
Front suspension is handled by an 80mm coil fork, and a 50mm Aventon suspension seatpost (30.9mm x 350mm) is included standard — a first for the Aventure lineup. Stopping is handled by Tektro HD-E3520 hydraulic disc brakes with 180mm rotors and EJ1 quick-disconnect wiring; the rear light functions as a brake light and turn signal. The drivetrain is Shimano Altus 8-speed with a 48T chainring and 12-32T cassette, driven by a 3-piece 170mm crankset with a double-sided torque sensor bottom bracket.
The Aventure 3 rolls on 26 x 4-inch Innova knobby fat tires. Metal front and rear fenders, a MIK-compatible rear cargo rack rated for 59 pounds, an integrated front LED headlight, and integrated rear lights with brake light and turn signal functionality are all included standard. The bike is IPX4 rated, UL 2849 and UL 2271 certified, and carries a 400-pound payload capacity. It weighs approximately 77–78 pounds.
The Aventon Aventure 3 is available in high-step and step-through frame styles in two sizes, fitting riders from 4’11” to 6’4″, in Stellar Black, Aurora Purple, Cobalt, and Midnight Teal colorways. It retails for $1,999 at aventon.com and comes with free shipping, a 14-day return window, and a 2-year warranty. Aventon has 1,800+ authorized dealer locations for in-person service and test rides.
