The MOD Groove SideCar 3 is an electric beach cruiser that features a detachable sidecar for carrying pets, kids, or a passenger.

The 750w rear hub motor pushes the Groove SideCar 3 to a top speed of 28mph in pedal assist mode and 20mph in throttle-only mode. The bike has five pedal assist modes and is equipped with a torque sensor.

The bike ships as a Class 2, but is adjustable to Class 1 or 3. The removable and UL-certified 48V 720Wh Samsung Li-ion battery gives the bike 50 miles of range, which can be doubled to 100 miles with an optional additional battery.

The optional battery is stored on the bike’s Snap-On Rack, which uses MOD’s modular system to add other accessories. The rack, which is child-seat ready, has a 65 lb payload capacity.

The sidecar is the Groove SideCar 3’s defining feature. It attaches with three quick-release pins and is fully detachable in seconds for solo riding. The sidecar carries up to 150 pounds and includes a removable padded seat with a seatbelt for child passengers, a rear doggie door for easy pet entry and exit, a built-in D-ring for securing a dog harness or leash, and an external entry step. Combined rider and sidecar payload capacity is 375 pounds.

Stopping the Groove is accomplished via Hydraulic Brakes with 180mm rotors with Dual-Piston calipers and motor Inhibitors. The Shimano Altus 7-speed drivetrain handles shifting duties.

The wheelset is made up of 24-inch rims wrapped in 3-inch all-terrain tires and secured to the frame with quick-release skewers. The 6061 aluminum step-thru frame features a Mozo suspension fork with 100mm travel preload and lockout.

A 300 lumen LED headlight and LED taillight with integrated brake light are standard safety features.

Owners of the Lumos smart helmet will be pleased with the Groover Sidecar 3’s MOD connect feature, which wirelessly connects to the helmet and sends turn signal and brake light signals to the helmet.

The bike weighs 67.5 pounds without the 7-pound battery and is suited for riders from 5’1″ to 6’7″. It is availble in red, blue, green and black color schemes and retails for $4,905 at mod-bikes.com.
