ECLIO Vetus 1 Fat Tire Electric Bike
The ECLIO Vetus 1 is a fat tire moped-style eBike with a 1000W peak motor and 624Wh battery at $729. It’s the same price as the Vetus 2, with a similar spec sheet, but comes with a dual rear suspension system rather than the Vetus 2’s single suspension setup.
The Vetus 1‘s battery is a 48V 13Ah pack totaling 624Wh. It’s IPX5-rated and ECLIO claims up to 50 miles on pedal assist and 30 miles on throttle alone, also matching the Vetus 2. As with any claimed range, real-world figures will vary based on rider weight, terrain, assist level, and temperature.
Power comes from a rear hub motor rated at 1000W peak, driven by a 48V controller with 9 MOSFETs, which is the same platform used across the ECLIO lineup. Default top speed is 20 mph in Class 2, but is adjustable to 28 mph. Climbing ability is rated at 12 degrees, consistent with the Vetus 2.
The primary difference between the Vetus 1 and Vetus 2 is suspension. Both bikes use a front suspension fork, but the Vetus 1 adds dual rear spring shocks while the Vetus 2 uses a single rear spring shock, which gives the Vetus 1 a more capable suspension setup for riders regularly encountering rougher pavement, gravel, or packed dirt. Disc brakes handle stopping duties. The drivetrain is a 7-speed with throttle included.
Geometry is identical to the Vetus 2: 720mm handlebar width, 430mm reach, 950mm headtube height, 1110mm wheelbase, and 830mm seat height. The shared geometry and pricing make the Vetus 1 and Vetus 2 a straightforward comparison.
A 55-lux LED headlight and NFC smart unlock are standard, matching the rest of the ECLIO lineup. A 4.3-inch TFT LCD color display is included.
