Rad Power Bikes is opening a store in St. Pete.

With the number of e-bikes on Florida trails and roads, it’s not surprising that Rad Power Bikes, the largest e-bike retailer in the United States, is opening a store in the Sunshine State.

The store, located at 2400 5th Ave. South in St Petersburg, is having a grand opening on Jan. 14. There will be a raffle for a RadRunner Plus, as well as deals and discounts.

The store will have the entire range of Rad Power Bikes e-bikes available for test rides.

The St. Pete location is the company’s first store in Florida. Rad Power Bikes has three stores in California (Berkeley, Huntington Beach and San Diego), as well as stores in Denver, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Brooklyn and Vancouver, Canada.

The company was founded by Mike Radenbaugh (get the name, now?), who as a teenager built himself an electric bike to help ease his hilly, 15-mile commute to high school. Based on his success, he started converting conventional bikes to e-bikes and selling them. He later teamed up with a high school friend and they setup a crowdfunding campaign for their first bike, the RadRover.
