Heybike Venus eBike
The Heybike Venus is a lightweight step-thru commuter eBike designed for city streets and weekend cruising that retails for less than $1,500.
The Venus’s 750-watt rear-hub motor (part of Heybike’s Galaxy eDrive System) delivers 70 Nm of torque and can move the bike to speeds up to 28 mph. The 48V 680Wh removable battery promises a range of up to 85 miles depending on conditions.
A color LCD display shows speed, battery level, distance, and pedal assist level, with 5 PAS levels and a throttle option. The Venus also connects to the Heybike Smart App (iOS and Android), which allows riders to independently adjust top speeds for each PAS level and switch freely between Class 2 and Class 3 modes.
What sets the Venus apart from most commuter eBikes in its price range is its dual-sensor pedal assist system combining both a torque sensor and a cadence sensor. The torque sensor reads the force applied to the pedals and delivers proportional assist, resulting in a more natural, responsive ride feel.
On the safety side, the Venus comes equipped with an integrated headlight with horn, a rear red LED, and built-in turn signals — a welcome feature for riders navigating traffic. The IPX6-rated display handles wet weather, and hydraulic disc brakes with 180mm rotors provide reliable stopping power in all conditions.
The Venus rolls on 2.2-inch Kenda tires mounted to 27.5-inch, disc brake equipped wheels. A 6061 aluminum alloy low step-thru frame with a forward bottom bracket promises easier mounting and better leg extension. The stem offers 90 degrees of adjustability for a customizable riding position. A Shimano Altus 8-speed drivetrain handles the gearing. Front and rear fenders and a rear rack are available as an optional add-on package.
The Venus is UL 2849 (whole bike) and UL 2271 (battery) certified. The bike weighs approximately 50 pounds with the battery installed and can carry up to 350 pounds including the rider. Recommended rider height is 4’11” to 6’2″.
