Aventon Aventure M eBike
The Aventon Aventure M is a mid-drive fat tire eBike that takes the Aventure platform to a new performance level with the A100 motor, electronic AutoShift, and SRAM DB4 brakes.
The Aventure M is built around the Aventon A100 mid-drive motor — the same unit found in Aventon’s Ramblas eMTB — rated at 250W sustained and 750W peak with 100 N·m of torque and a double-sided bottom bracket torque sensor. Positioning the motor at the bottom bracket rather than in the rear hub improves weight distribution, allows power to flow through the full range of gears, and produces a more natural, responsive pedaling feel than the hub-drive Aventure 3.
The bike ships as Class 1 with no throttle, but wiring is pre-installed for a plug-and-play throttle (sold separately), and Class 2 and Class 3 modes up to 28 mph are unlockable via the Aventon app.
An Uphill Start Assist feature delivers an extra torque burst when starting from a stop on steep grades. The 36V 20Ah (720Wh) battery is keylessly removed through the display menu and provides a claimed range of up to 85 miles; real-world testing has returned 37 miles at maximum assist and 110 miles in Eco — among the highest range results recorded for any fat tire eBike in independent testing.
The drivetrain is Shimano CUES 10-speed, operated via Aventon’s E-Shifter paddle mounted on the handlebar or left entirely to the AutoShift system, which monitors cadence and gradient in real time and shifts automatically to keep the rider in an optimal gear. The system is designed to reduce motor power momentarily during each shift to protect the drivetrain — a key design consideration given the torque output of a mid-drive motor.
Auto Mode combines AutoShift with dynamic PAS management to simultaneously handle both gearing and assist level, requiring minimal input from the rider on varied terrain. Stopping is handled by SRAM DB4 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes with a 200mm front rotor and 180mm rear rotor — a meaningful upgrade over the Tektro 2-piston system on the Aventure 3, with noticeably better modulation and heat management on long descents.
Front suspension is an 80mm coil fork with lockout, and the 50mm Aventon suspension seatpost with preload adjustment is included standard. The gravity-cast aluminum front triangle is shared with the Aventure 3 and Level 4 lineup, with a stiffer downtube specifically designed to reduce flex under the lateral loads of a mid-drive motor.
The Aventure M rolls on Innova 26 x 4.0-inch puncture-resistant fat tires on 36-hole aluminum fat tire rims with thru-axles front and rear. Integrated front and rear running lights are included, though unlike the Aventure 3, the rear light does not function as a brake light.
A MIK-compatible rear cargo rack rated for 59 pounds, metal front and rear fenders, and the full ACU smart security suite — 4G GPS tracking, geofencing, motion alarm, remote wheel lockout, Lost Mode, PIN start, and OTA firmware updates — are all included standard.
The Aventure M is IPX6 rated on the frame and IP67 on the motor, UL 2849 and UL 2271 certified, weighs 73 pounds, and supports a 400-pound maximum payload. It is available in Regular (5’3″–5’10”) and Large (5’10″–6’4″) sizes in both step-over and step-through frames.
The Aventon Aventure M retails for $2,899 at aventon.com and comes with free shipping, a 14-day return window, and a 2-year warranty. Aventon has 1,800+ authorized dealer locations for in-person service and test rides.
