Aventon Soltera 2.5 eBike
The Aventon the Soltera 2.5 is a lightweight urban commuter eBike that upgrades its predecessor with hydraulic disc brakes, a stiffer double-butted frame, and faster-rolling tires.
At 46 pounds, Soltera 2.5 is one of the lighter Class 2 eBikes on the market. The move to a double-butted 6061 aluminum frame (up from the single-butted tubing on the Soltera 2) improves stiffness and ride responsiveness, while a revised geometry brings the reach in for a more upright, comfortable urban riding position.
The biggest mechanical upgrade over the previous generation is the switch from mechanical to Tektro hydraulic disc brakes with 180mm rotors, delivering noticeably better modulation and stopping power. The tradeoff is that the new setup removes the motor cutoff from the brake levers, which also eliminates the brake-activated taillight function found on earlier Solteras.
The 350W brushless rear hub motor runs on a 36V system with a 500W peak output and 40 N·m of torque, paired with a dual-sided torque sensor for smooth, natural power delivery. Four pedal assist modes — Eco, Tour, Sport, and Turbo — plus a thumb throttle top out at 20 mph.
The 36V 9.6Ah (345.6Wh) battery is integrated into the downtube but is removable for off-bike charging. Aventon claims up to 46 miles of range; real-world testing has returned 29 miles at max assist and 55 miles in Eco, with riders generally exceeding Aventon’s stated range estimate.
The full-color LCD display includes a concealed USB charging port for phone charging on the go. The Aventon app connects via Bluetooth for ride tracking, motor customization, navigation, and community features.
The Soltera 2.5 rolls on Kenda 700 x 38c tires with reflective sidewalls for low-light visibility. The drivetrain is a Shimano Tourney 7-speed setup with a 48T chainring and 14-28T cassette — geared appropriately for a Class 2 bike and sufficient for moderate hills with assist. Integrated front and rear LED lights and integrated rear turn signals are all standard.
The frame includes mounting points for fenders, a rear rack, and bottle cages; none are included but all are available separately from Aventon. The Soltera 2.5 ships as a Class 2 eBike with the throttle connected; the throttle can be unplugged for use in areas where throttles are prohibited.
The Aventon Soltera 2.5 is available in three frame sizes (Small, Medium, Large) to fit riders from 5’1″ to 6’2″, in Cosmic Black, Baja Blue, and Onyx color options. It retails for $1,199 at aventon.com and comes with free shipping, a 14-day return window, and a 2-year warranty. Aventon has 1,800+ authorized dealer locations for in-person service and test rides.
