Aventon Pace 4 Step-Through eBike
The Aventon Pace 4 is the fourth generation of Aventon’s most iconic cruiser platform, and for 2025 it arrives as a step-through only model with a gravity-cast frame, ACU smart security, and a 36V system cross-compatible with the Level 3 and Aventure 3 battery ecosystem.
The Pace 4 runs a 500W rear hub motor peaking at 864W with 60 N·m of torque, paired with a double-sided bottom bracket torque sensor for smooth, natural power delivery across three pedal assist modes — Eco, Sport, and Turbo — plus a thumb throttle.
The bike ships as a Class 2 with 20 mph max speed. The 36V 20Ah (733Wh) LG 21700 battery is keylessly ejected through the display menu or the Aventon app, and is cross-compatible with the Abound SR, Abound LR, Level 3, and Aventure 3. Aventon claims a 70-mile range; independent testing has confirmed 71 miles in minimal assist and 44 miles at maximum assist — among the most consistent real-world range results in the cruiser category. The 36V 24A controller and 42V 4A charger fill the battery in approximately 5 hours.
The gravity-cast aluminum frame — a first for the Pace lineup — delivers a smooth, largely weld-free appearance and a noticeably stiffer front end compared to earlier Pace generations. One notable design shift from the Pace 500: Aventon replaced the model’s traditional Dutch-style swept-back handlebars with straighter 720mm BMX-style bars, resulting in a sportier riding position with a longer reach.
The rigid aluminum fork has no suspension, but the 50mm suspension seatpost with preload adjustment offsets road vibration on smooth urban surfaces. The Pace 4 rolls on 27.5 x 2.1-inch Kenda street tires on double-wall alloy wheels and uses a Shimano Altus 8-speed drivetrain with a 48T chainring and 12-32T cassette on a 3-piece 170mm crankset.
Stopping is handled by Tektro hydraulic disc brakes with 180mm rotors and motor cutoff sensors — enabling the integrated rear light to function as a brake light, a feature that earlier production Pace 4 units did not have but that Aventon corrected in a subsequent brake system update.
The ACU smart security suite is included standard, providing 4G GPS tracking, geofencing, motion detection alarm with push notifications, electronic rear wheel immobilizer, remote bike disable, PIN start, and OTA firmware updates. GPS tracking requires an Aventon subscription after the first year ($20/year or $2/month).
Integrated front and rear lights with handlebar-controlled turn signals are standard. Fenders and a rear rack are not included but are available separately from Aventon. The Pace 4 weighs approximately 53 pounds — among the lightest in its class — is IPX5 rated, UL 2849 and UL 2271 certified, and supports a maximum payload of 300 pounds. It is available in two sizes fitting riders from 4’11” to 5’10” (Regular) and 5’4″ to 6’2″ (Large).
The Aventon Pace 4 retails for $1,599 at aventon.com and comes with free shipping, a 14-day return window, and a 2-year warranty. Aventon has 1,800+ authorized dealer locations for in-person service and test rides.
