MOD Black 3 Full Suspension eBike
The MOD Black 3 is MOD’s full-suspension off-road eBike, built for riders who want a capable trail and commuter platform in one bike.
The Black 3 is powered by MOD’s 750W geared hub motor delivering 69 N·m of torque through a torque sensor pedal assist system with five programmable riding modes: Fit, Eco, Cargo, Sport, and Turbo. By default, the bike is a Class 1 with a 20 mph top speed; an off-road mode unlocks 28 mph for use on private property or off-road trails.
The Samsung Li-ion 48V 15Ah (720Wh) battery is SGS-tested and compliant to UL 2271 standards, is removable for indoor charging, and is dual battery compatible. Adding a second battery via the Snap-On Rack extends range from 50 miles to 100 miles with a manual battery swap.
The MOD BIKES S3 Smart Color Display includes a USB charging port and 4-digit password lock, and the fully customizable electric system settings are accessible directly from the display menu. Charging takes 3–6 hours with the included 2A automatic smart charger.
Where the Black 3 departs from the rest of the MOD lineup is in its suspension and tire setup. The front is a Mozo fork with 100mm of travel, preload adjustment, and lockout, but the rear suspension upgrades to an EXA Form A5 RR1 dual-chamber air shock absorber, giving riders the ability to tune both the primary and secondary chambers for a more dialed-in feel on varied terrain.
The Black 3 rolls on 27.5 x 3.0-inch multi-terrain tires on 27.5 x 35mm double-wall rims, with a wider contact patch than typical trail eBike setups. The rigid seatpost and 680mm low-rise aluminum handlebar produce an upright, controlled riding position.
Stopping is handled by dual-piston hydraulic disc brakes with 180mm rotors, motor inhibitors, and adjustable reach levers. The LT-WOO 7-speed trigger shifter pairs with a Shimano Altus 7-speed derailleur and DNP 11-32T freewheel, driven by a 48T crankset with double-sided aluminum bash guards.
No fenders are included. The Black 3 is trail-configured from the factory. A multi-purpose Snap-On rear rack (65 lb capacity, child seat ready), a 300-lumen wide beam LED headlight, an integrated LED taillight with wireless brake light, a premium aluminum bell, faux leather ergonomic grips, and a Selle Royal premium gel saddle are all included standard. MOD Connect allows wireless pairing of a compatible Lumos smart helmet for handlebar-controlled turn signals and brake light sync.
The Black 3 weighs 65.5 pounds without the battery (9 lbs) and supports a payload capacity of 275 pounds. It is HSA/FSA eligible and fits riders from 5’3″ to 6’10”.
The MOD Black 3 retails for $2,399 at mod-bikes.com. It ships free within 1–3 days to the continental US and Canada, includes a 14-day at-home trial, and comes with a 5-year limited warranty (frame: 5 years; electric system, fork/suspension: 18 months; drivetrain: 12 months).
