ECLIO Otium 1 City Cruiser Electric Bike
The ECLIO Otium 1 is a high-carbon steel city cruiser eBike aimed at entry-level commuters and casual riders, offering a 1000W peak motor, 624Wh battery, and standard front basket and rear rack at $649, which is the most accessible price point in the ECLIO city bike lineup.
The Otium 1‘s battery is a single IPX5-rated 48V 13Ah pack totaling 624Wh. ECLIO claims up to 50 miles on pedal assist and 30 miles on throttle alone. Real-world range will vary based on rider weight, terrain, assist level, and temperature.
Power comes from a rear hub motor rated at 1000W peak, using the same 48V controller with 9 MOSFETs found across the ECLIO lineup. Default top speed is 20 mph in Class 2mode, which is adjustable to 28 mph. Climbing ability is rated at 14 degrees, consistent with the rest of the range.
The frame is high-carbon steel rather than the aluminum alloy used on the Otium 2. Steel frames are heavier but generally more resilient to impacts and easier to repair; at 64 lbs with battery, the Otium 1 weighs the same as the Otium 2 despite using steel, likely due to the smaller battery. Tires are 24 x 1.95-inch on 24-inch aluminum alloy wheels, which is a smaller wheel diameter than the 26-inch wheels on the Otium 2 and Lumeo 2. That contributes to the lower standover height and more accessible step-over geometry. Braking is handled by a disc brake system.
The drivetrain is a Shimano TZ500 7-speed with a 38T crankset, matching the Otium 2’s setup. A front basket (33 lb / 15 kg capacity) and rear rack (77 lb / 35 kg capacity) are both included standard, as they are on the Otium 2. A 55-lux LED headlight and NFC smart unlock round out the feature set.
Rider geometry reflects the Otium 1’s step-through-friendly design: standover height is 430mm, and seat height is listed at 830mm. Wheelbase is 1000mm and handlebar width is 650mm. The shorter wheelbase and smaller wheels make the Otium 1 a more compact, maneuverable bike suited to urban environments and riders prioritizing ease of mounting over long-distance range.
