Tezeus C8 Smart Electric Bike
The Tezeus C8 is a lightweight carbon fiber city eBike built around an impressive technology stack. The bike features a mid-drive motor, belt drive, millimeter wave radar, 5-inch 1080P touchscreen, fingerprint unlock, over-the-air updates and built-in Google Maps all in a 36.4 lb package that retials at $2,299.
The C8 is a commuter-focused bike that prioritizes smart features and low weight over raw range or power.
The bike’s battery is a Samsung 360Wh integrated lithium-ion pack, removable for charging or spare battery swapping. Tezeus claims up to 62 miles of range. GaN fast charging brings the battery from empty to full in 2.5 hours, which is noticeably faster than the 4–7 hour charge times common on competing commuter eBikes. Real-world range will vary based on rider weight, terrain, assist level, and temperature.
Power comes from a Tezeus self-developed mid-drive motor rated at 250W with a peak torque of 75 Nm. Top speed in the US version is 20 mph (32 km/h), which is Class 2 compliant. Assist is available across four levels (0–3) plus a walking mode and boost mode; in Power 0 mode the motor provides no assistance, allowing the C8 to be ridden as a conventional bicycle. Total rider weight limit is 242.5 lbs (110 kg).
The drivetrain is a belt drive rather than a chain. Belt drives are quieter, lower maintenance, and cleaner, though it requires compatible frame dropouts that limit gear options. The internal gear hub is an Auto 3-speed unit. Sensors include a speed sensor, torque sensor, gyroscope, and millimeter wave radar.
The millimeter wave radar is the C8’s most distinctive safety feature. Mounted at the rear, it provides active detection of approaching vehicles and delivers visual, vibration, and audio alerts, giving the rider real-time awareness of traffic behind them without requiring a mirror or rearward glance. This is the same radar technology used in automotive driver assistance systems; its inclusion on a $2,299 city bike is notable. Braking is handled by hydraulic disc brakes with internally routed lines; the brake levers are made of carbon fiber and high-strength plastic.
The Tezeus C8 frame and front fork are full carbon fiber. The 5.0-inch 1080P IPS touchscreen display is rated IP65, running Tezeus’s own operating system. Built-in Google Maps navigation allows routes to be pushed from the rider’s phone to the bike’s display with one tap, eliminating the need to mount a phone to the bars. Security features include fingerprint unlock via a capacitive touch button, which also serves as the power switch and bell, plus motion-triggered anti-theft alerts with app notification. OTA updates keep the system updated wirelessly.
Additional features include an auto-activating LED headlight (StVZO-compliant), full mudguards, an integrated rear rack, and BASF automotive-grade paint with UV and scratch resistance. An app provides dashboard monitoring, remote control, ride tracking, and route sharing. An AI charging system learns the rider’s routine and recommends off-peak charging windows to protect long-term battery health.
Geometry fits riders from 5’5″ to 6’5″: standover height is 800mm, handlebar grip height is 992.53mm, wheelbase is 1085.65mm, overall length is 1785mm, seat tube length is 530.78mm, chainstay length is 450mm, and effective top tube length is 536.34mm. Tires are 700 x 38C on aluminum alloy wheels. The C8 weighs 16.5 kg (36.4 lbs) including battery and kickstand; accessories such as mudguards and rear rack are not included in that figure.
