Heybike ALPHA eBike
The Heybike ALPHA is an all-terrain fat tire eBike powered by a mid-drive motor, available in step-through and step-over frame styles, that retails for $1,299.
The ALPHA is built around a Mivice 500W mid-drive motor with 105 N·m of torque, integrated into Heybike’s Galaxy Perform S eDrive System. Unlike hub motors, the mid-drive placement positions the motor at the bike’s center of gravity and drives the bike through its drivetrain, resulting in more natural pedal feel and better efficiency on varied terrain. A torque sensor reads pedaling force in real time and adjusts motor output accordingly.
The bike tops out at 28 mph and carries a half-twist throttle, though the throttle is designed to engage only after natural pedaling has begun — a safety feature intended to protect the drivetrain and prevent accidental starts. A Shimano Altus 8-speed rear derailleur handles the gearing.
The UL 2271-certified 680Wh removable lithium-ion battery promises a maximum range of up to 60 miles per charge, with Heybike claiming the Galaxy Perform S system delivers approximately 8% more range than competing batteries of the same capacity. The bike connects to a smart LCD display, and the 54.6V 2A charger is included.
The ALPHA rolls on 26 x 4.0-inch puncture-resistant fat tires mounted to a 6061 aluminum alloy frame with a hydraulic front suspension fork and hydraulic disc brakes. An auto-on LED headlight, an integrated taillight with brake light, a rear rack, front and rear fenders, and an alloy kickstand are all included standard. The ALPHA is UL 2849 certified as a complete vehicle.
The bike is available in a step-through Pearl White frame and a step-over Galaxy Black frame, both at the same price. It weighs approximately 71.6 pounds and supports a maximum payload of 400 pounds including the rider.
