Velotric GoMad Utility eBike
The Velotric GoMad is a compact short-tail utility eBike built to carry cargo, passengers, and gear while remaining small enough to handle like a standard bike. It has a 500-pound payload capacity on a 20-inch fat tire platform.
Th GoMad is powered by a 750W rear hub motor with 1,300W peak output and 85 N·m of torque, capable of handling steep climbs and heavy loads with confidence. One of its standout features is SensorSwap, a system that lets riders toggle between torque sensor mode for natural, effort-proportional assist and cadence sensor mode for lighter, more consistent power delivery, switchable via the display or Velotric app.
A custom Cargo Mode simultaneously unlocks the throttle to 20 mph and pedal assist to 28 mph, a combination that’s uncommon in the utility eBike segment. Class 1, 2, and 3 configurations are all accessible. The 48V 16.7Ah (801.6Wh) battery is integrated into the downtube, is IPX7 water-rated, and is UL 2271 certified. Velotric claims up to 75 miles of range in Eco mode; independent range testing at low assist has confirmed figures close to that estimate, with throttle-only range running approximately 50 miles. A second battery can be added to extend range to approximately 150 miles. Full charge takes around 5.5 hours with the included 3A charger. Apple Find My integration is built in for passive location tracking.
The GoMad’s braking is a genuine standout: Tektro 2-piston hydraulic disc brakes with a 203mm front rotor and 180mm rear rotor (most comparable utility bikes use 180mm on both wheels) paired with 20 x 4.0-inch Kenda fat tires. In independent brake testing, the GoMad recorded a 15’9″ average stopping distance, placing it among the shortest braking distances tested across all eBike categories.
The RST Guide hydraulic fork with 100mm of travel and lockout handles front suspension. The aluminum step-through frame uses a clean integrated design with all cables hidden internally, and the 700mm handlebar and adjustable stem provide a comfortable, upright riding position. Stopping data, power output, trip stats, and mode selection are all shown on a full-color TFT LCD display.
The GoMad ships with a MIK HD rear rack rated for 176 pounds, which is compatible with the full MIK accessory ecosystem including child seats, cargo crates, and bags. The GoMad + Passenger Kit ($2,124.99) and GoMad + Young Passenger Kit ($2,198.49) bundles add adult or child passenger seating, footrests, and handrails at a discounted price relative to buying the accessories separately.
Integrated 500-lumen LED headlight, brake-activated rear light, and left and right turn signals are all standard. The bike weighs 77 pounds and fits riders from 5’0″ to 6’3″.
