Ride1Up Prodigy V2 Eco Mid-Drive eBike
The Ride1Up Prodigy V2 Eco is a Class 3 mid-drive eBike designed for riders looking for a more traditional bicycle feel with the added assistance of a German-made Brose motor. The Eco version uses the same 90Nm Brose mid-drive motor found on the Prodigy V2 while using a more accessible component package to bring the starting price down to $1,295.
The Brose mid-drive motor is positioned at the bike’s bottom bracket and delivers power through the bicycle’s drivetrain rather than directly driving the rear wheel. Ride1Up pairs the motor with a torque sensor, allowing the motor assistance to respond to the rider’s pedaling effort.
Ride1Up lists the Prodigy V2 Eco as a Class 3 eBike with pedal assistance up to 28 mph. The company estimates 30–50 miles of range, depending on factors including rider weight, terrain, incline, and level of pedal assistance.
The bike is designed with comfort in mind, including an adjustable stem, spring-loaded saddle, and front suspension fork. Ride1Up says these features are intended to help smooth out cracks, seams, gravel connectors, and other rough sections of pavement or bike paths.
The Prodigy V2 Eco is available in both step-through and step-over frame configurations, giving riders an option depending on their preferred riding position and frame style. The lightweight alloy frame houses the electronics internally.
The Prodigy platform also uses hydraulic disc brakes, integrated lighting, and a rear rack. Ride1Up’s current Prodigy V2 specifications list Tektro 180mm hydraulic brakes, an integrated 80-lux front light, a rear light, and a 40-pound-rated rear cargo rack. The exact component configuration can vary by Prodigy V2 version, so buyers should verify the equipment listed for the Eco configuration before ordering.

One of the main differences between the Prodigy V2 Eco and many hub-motor eBikes is the mid-drive system. Because the motor delivers power through the bicycle’s drivetrain, the bike can use its gearing when climbing or riding over changing terrain. Ride1Up also describes the Brose system as designed to provide a more natural, responsive riding experience.
At 58 pounds, the Prodigy V2 platform is considerably lighter than many full-size fat-tire and utility eBikes, which can make transportation and handling easier. The tradeoff is a smaller 14Ah battery and narrower 27.5 x 2.25-inch tires compared with the larger batteries and fat tires found on some of Ride1Up’s other models.
